Welcome to Better Christian Living, a place to learn biblical principles through study of the scriptures, personal testimonies, and real life experiences. My goal is to breathe life back into your Christian walk as well as mine. We are commanded by the scriptures to be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
(Eph 4:14-15).
Grow up into him in all things. That is my goal and should be yours as well. This Christian Blog won’t show you how to get rich through faith and the scriptures, it won’t show you how to heal every sickness you ever have, nor will it show you how to get out of all your troubles. Why? Because that’s not scriptural, Jesus told us we will have tribulation (Jn 16:33) and Paul tells us that through tribulation we build character (Rom 5:3-4 ). While I believe that God can bless us with monetary wealth (Deut 8:18), I believe even more that God wants us to depend up Him for our needs (Phi 4:19) and that when we gain abundant wealth we tend to draw away from God and toward the world in which we live (Matt 6:21). I know that God can and does heal sickness and disease (Ps 103:3), he also allows us to suffer for His glory (Acts 9:16).
We cannot allow ourselves to be deceived by a feel good gospel, being tossed to and fro, carried about with every wind of doctrine. I’ve seen too many lives destroyed because they were told the reason for their sickness, depression, poverty, etc. was due to their lack of faith. I’ve seen Christians constantly standing idly by waiting for God answer a prayer because they’ve “claimed it in the name of Christ!” Too many people want God to be the ever elusive genie in a bottle. Rub the lamp and get what you want, no more suffering, no more tears, no more wanting. What they are looking for is heaven on earth.
But you don’t get something for nothing. Paul tells us that we must train ourselves, train our bodies and bring them under submission that we may not be disqualified (1Cor 9:24-27). It is my goal to show you through proper interpretation of the scriptures, life experiences, and even some humor how to achieve Better Christian Living.
